Trentino Alto Adige’s castles

There are many attractions throughout the entire territory of Trentino. Faced with a variety of choices, we opted to “travel in time”, and discover the charm of the wonderful castles scattered in the region, between the vast valleys and green spaces.

Castello di Arco

The Castle d’Arco is located on the precipice of a rocky cliff. This authentic jewel is located a few minutes from the historic centre of Arco, along a winding road through the olive trees, with panoramic views of Lake Garda and the valleys.

During your visit to the Castle, do not miss the “Game room“, richly decorated with frescoes, and the prison (Prigione del Sasso).

Castel Toblino

Castel Toblino is a rare example of a castle on the Lake. The property is nestled in a sheltered position, on a small rocky promontorysurrounded by Lake Toblino. Centuries ago, this rocky land was a small island and the castle was built there for defensive purposes. About 2,000 years ago, it was thought that the castle was inhabited by fairies.

Castel Tirolo

The castle, built by the family of the counts of Tyrol, dates back to the 11th century and became a symbol for the community, even giving its name to the entire Tyrol region.

Today, this princely structure houses the historical and cultural Museum of Bolzano, with objects related to the history of the Tyrol region, from Antiquity to the present day. The wall surrounding the castle is one of the oldest and best preserved city walls you can admire.

Castel Monteleone

Picturesque courtyards, french-style gardens and a Hall of mirrors in the Rococo style await you at the Castle of Monteleone, witness of a glorious past. Also worth visiting are the Knights Hall and the Hall of Arms. Recently, precious Gothic frescoes were discovered.
