Emilia Romagna’s Tourist Destinations

Emilia Romagna offers visitors a different way to travel, discover the region through through a more experiential, first-hand approach. The region of Emilia Romagna is made up many diverse landscapes, which can each be seen as their own tourist destinations, each with their own unique experiences and sights to discover.

In Emilia Romagna,  three tourist destinations have been identified by the APT Servizi Emilia Romagna, the regional tourism promotion agency of the Region, they include; Emilia (Reggio Emilia, Parma and Piacenza), the Bologna-Modena and finally Romagna (Rimini, Ravenna, Forli-Cesena and Ferrara).

The Emilia Destination

The Emilia Destination is known for its delicious food offerings, beautiful castles, and unique art and culture. There are many attractions to discover in the area from the charm of the castles of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza, the snow-covered slopes of Cerreto Laghi and the contemporary architecture of Renzo Piano and of Santiago Calatrava. The Emilia destination is also known for culinary specialties from the Food Valley including Pancetta, Coppa and Salami Piacentini, Prosciutto di Parma, Culatello di Zibello, Parmigiano Reggiano, and Aceto Balsamico.

The region offers visitors a mix of cities and countryside , including the art cities of Piacenza, Parma and Reggio Emilia as well as the thermal spas of Salsomaggiore, and the nature found along the Po river. The region is also home to many vineyards to discover growing wines such as Gutturnio and Malvasia.

The Bologna-Modena Destination

The Bologna-Modena destination is a area famous for being the center of knowledge, traditions and good living in Italy. Bologna is home of the oldest university in the Western world and has a rich cultural history bringing together many of the world’s brightest researchers and artists. Culture can also found at the table, among Michelin- starred restaurants visitor will find DOP products such as Parmigiano Reggiano and Aceto Balsamico as well as the world’s largest food theme park, FICO Eataly World.

Modena, Bologna and Imola are the capitals of Motor Valley the birthplace of global brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Ducati and Pagani, as well as the two major racetracks. The area also gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy the nature of the territory with two ski areas of Cimone and Corno alle Scale, and in the summer with many hiking routes, such as the Via degli Dei, and several cycling routes.

The Romagna Destination

The Romagna destination is a unique natural tourism destination. The area is known for 110km of beautiful coastline along the Adriatic sea and over 1400 beaches for visitors to discover. The destination is also home to the Tosco Romagnolo Apennines mountain range which has many trekking and hiking paths to discover. Along with the region’s natural beauty there is classic and contemporary art to discover, from the UNESCO heritage sites such as the mosaics of Ravenna and the art of Ferrara as well as the cinematic art of Fellini from Rimini.

Along with the rest of Emilia Romagna, Romagna has unique food and wine products to offer from the typical Romagna Piadina to DOP and IGP products, the area is especially known for their seafood dishes.

The Romanga area is a popular vacation spot for local and international travellers, it has 26 water and theme parks (the highest concentration in Europe) and a series of thermal spas nicknamed the Wellness Valley. To complete the offer of Romagna, there is a calendar of exciting events throughout the year including music festivals, art exhibitions,food festivals and international sports events.
