This tour is designed to offer an in-depth experience linked not only to the discovery of the 4 different local DOC wines, but also to discover regional products with local chefs who will use them in personalized traditional recipes.
Arrival by car or train to Peschiera del Garda at 10:00 in the morning. Peschiera is a town located inside a Venetian fortress from the 1400s built to protect the Mincio river, an estuary of Garda Lake. After a walk through the streets of this UNESCO heritage village, the tour will continue to the town of Borghetto sul Mincio, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. 10km separate the two villages which straddle the border of the Lombardy region, this area is known for the production of Lugana DOC white wine as well as squashes.
In the village of Borghetto, the tour will visit an old Venetian customs house, where there will be a guided tasting of both Lugana DOC and delicious squash products. In the early afternoon the tour will stop at the Littorina del Mincio, a restaurant on the river where you will enter the kitchen to meet the chef and prepare tortellini di Valeggio together, a typical dish from the region. The pasta and the filling will be prepared according to the typical recipe and will be enjoyed at the restaurant with a view of the flowing river.
At about 4.30 pm the tour will return to Peschiera where you will continue north to Pesino di Torri with your own car or with one of our private transfers. We will arrive at a 4-star hotel provided for a relaxing break before a dinner at the Ristorante del Porto right in the heart of the medieval village.
The chef will provide an extensive guided tasting of typical lake products and traditional recipes.
After a large breakfast, the tour will leave to catch a boat at 9:00 am heading north towards the village of Malcesine, one of the pearls of Lake Garda. The steep castle in the water will be clearly visible before arrival and the docking at the port is definitely something you do not want to miss. After a free tour through the streets of the villages, a tasting of Garda DOP extra virgin olive oil will begin with a visit at a local oil mill. From the boat you will have been able to see the century-old olive terraces on the mountains, the lake has the perfect microclimate for the production of olive oil. At the mill the product will be tasted along with some information of the products and their history.
Next, by bus or our private transfer we will begin the slow descent of the lake along the 12 km that separate Malcesine from the town of Brenzone sul Garda where we will go to the prestigious Alla Fassa restaurant for a local food and wine experience. Here you will taste the unique food and wine of the lake especially its famous fish dishes but as well as its fine olive oils and wines made just above 700 meters above sea level. The meal will be accompanied by tasty cheeses, cured meats and local fruits and vegetables such as chestnuts and truffles
In the afternoon you can enjoy one of the numerous beaches of the coast for a swim or a moment of relaxation. The return is scheduled in the evening and the rest of the night is free.
After breakfast in the hotel and after check out we will move 10 km away at 700 meters above sea level to the Al Sole hotel in San Zeno di Montagna which will be home for the last night of the tour. After a check-in at 11 am, we will leave for a tour on foot or by bicycle though the alpine huts to discover local cheese and other food producers of the delicious specialties tasted the day before. After 2 hours of walks and meetings with producers, we will sit at the nearby Taverna Kus for an extensive tasting menu of local specialties. Thanks to Giancalro and his brigard of cooks, you will get to experience incredible dishes such as gnocchi di malga, Monte Veronese cheese, local vegetables, and chestnuts. The afternoon includes a tour by private transfer which will return to the hotel after a visit to the Cantine Guerrieri Rizzardi for the discovery and tasting of Bardolino, Chiaretto and Rose wines and after a visit and guided tasting at the Cisano oil museum.
The rest of the evening will be free to stroll in the streets of San Zeno di Montagna, the splendid natural terrace overlooking Garda Lake.
