Discovering Castelfranco Veneto and Bassano Del Grappa

Package

In Veneto, a few kilometers from Treviso, easily reachable by public transport, there is the old town of Castelfranco Veneto. The city has very ancient origins dating back to 1199, when the Municipality of Treviso felt the need to guard the border with the rival cities of Padua and Vicenza. The area where the city stands today was chosen to build a fortress city. The remains of what was once the ancient Castle are today the main feature of the city, which owes its name to them.

Visitors, walking through its streets, will be able to admire its medieval taste and its ancient walls. Art lovers can follow in the footsteps of the great painter of the Venetian school to which the city was born, Giorgione! The city holds some of his most important and famous works such as the “Pala di Castelfranco” preserved in the cathedral of the seventeenth century. After being conquered by the beauty of art, we recommend taking a break to taste one of the most traditional sweets in the area, the delicious Tiramisu! Accompanied by a good Prosecco Superiore DOCG. Before leaving this beautiful city, visitors will be able to admire it from the top going up on the ancient Civic Tower!

In the afternoon, you can reach the nearby Bassano del Grappa with a short train ride! After a walk in its ancient historical center, visitors will be able to admire the beautiful Ponte Vecchio by Andrea Palladio, crossed by the placid flow of the Brenta river. After admiring the ancient old town, one cannot leave this beautiful city behind without first having tried at least one glass of its famous Grappa!
