Caciocavallo Silano DOP is one of the most famous cheeses of southern Italy, in particular the Sila area, a wide mountainous territory in Calabria, where it is produced.

Caciocavallo Silano is made of fresh sheep or cow’s milk, from farms located in Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Puglia and Molise. The cheese in instantly recognizable thanks to its characteristic shape, with an oval body and a small ball on top.

As the cheese matures, that taste is known to be quite intense and spicy, it is often eaten alone or with bread, paired with a delicious Aglianico del Vulture DOC wine or Calabrian Cirò DOC.
