Production of the Nocciola Piemonte IGP (Hazelnuts from Piemonte) is concentrated in the provinces of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria, in an area between the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato hills all within the beautiful region of Piemonte.
The IGP denomination guarantees consumers the quality and Italian authenticity of the product.
This hazelnut is particularly appreciated by the chocolate industry for a variety f reasons such as:
• the spheroidal shape of the seed
• excellent taste and aroma after roasting
• high peelability
• good shelf life
For these reasons, Piedmont hazelnuts are universally known as the best in the world.
Production of the Nocciola Piemonte IGP is 4860 tons per year on an area of 3315 hectares mainly in the province of Cuneo. It is also produced in the province of Asti and Alessandria.
There are 784 companies that produce these hazelnuts and they are located mainly in Alta Langa.
