Podere Castellinuzza

Podere Castellinuzza is a small family-run farm. For generations, the company has been promoting the careful and scrupulous care of quality with a boundless love for Nature and the Earth in an ancestral dialogue that is constantly renewed with the passage of time.

The story of Castellinuzza is a family story that speaks of Tradition and Respect for the Earth.

The company is located on a small farm that has its historical roots in sharecropping. In 1962, when the land and farmhouses were put up for sale by the previous owner, Montagliari & Castellinuzza di Cappelli, the Coccia family, with great courage and foresight, decided to buy the entire farm where they had worked since the early 1900s instead of leaving everything and settling in easier and more comfortable places.

Although life was difficult, it was still Authentic. The family maintained the value of “doing things with the heart“, aware that every step towards beauty, goodness and truth contributed to the Perfect Life.

The winemaker, the beating soul of the Podere, is Paolo Coccia, with over 70 actual harvests behind him. He is a great enthusiast and expert of the Lamole area; his daughter Serena and an all-female family collaborate with him: Luisa, who makes everyone’s mouth water with her exquisite cuisine; Antonella, the custodian of ancient sayings and family history and Martina, a cheerful “volcano” always on the move. The bond with the land and the family’s traditions are the lifeblood for the protection and testimony of a rewarding job in a unique territory.

The Territory

The territory of the Podere Castellinuzza farm has been rich in wine history since the Middle Ages, as being an area highly suited to the production of excellent wines. Lying in the arms of Monte San Michele, the highest mountain in the Chianti Classico region (the roof of Chianti Classico), the production area of Castellinuzza wines is Lamole. Slopes of over 30% characterize Lamole. Over time, terraces have been built to be able to cultivate in these areas. The terraces host small vineyards, some with vines over 130 years old, immersed in chestnut woods, surrounded by fields of iris, violets, wild strawberries and more. Furthermore, the boundless and breathtaking views of the splendid landscape create great harmony. The soil is mainly pietra serena or sandstone, fine earth typically of marine origins. The winery is located at an altitude of 550-600 meters above sea level, which helps to enhance the wines’ aromas, elegance, and finesse.
