Red Grape Variety: Aglianico
Located on volcanic soils derived from nearby Mount Vulture, Aglianico del Vulture is the only DOCG in Basilicata, in Southern Italy. Found within the province of Potenza, Aglianico del Vulture wines are known for being full-bodied, richly textured with a firm tannic structure and for their chocolate-cherry notes.
The wine pairs specifically well with cheeses, such as the local Pecorino di Filiano DOP, Canestrato di Moliterno IGP and Caciocavallo. The wine also maries well with pasta dishes and meat dishes such as lamb with mushrooms and vegetables.
