Colli Berici DOC is a wine-growing region just south of Vicenza, in the heart of the Veneto region. The Colli Berici are a group of hills that provide a panoramic look-out over the city of Vicenza. This wine growing region is unique in that it extends on the slopes of the Monti Berici, located near the Italian Alps and enhances the various flavours of the grape varieties.
There are several grape varieties in this region which yield both white and red wines. Colli Berici white wines have at least 50% of the Garganega grape at it’s base which produces great dry wines, with hints of peach blossom, almond and apricot. Colli Berici red wines have at least 50% of the Merlot grape at its base which produces dry wines and a mild flavour, which is why it is great to combine with other grapes.
Colli Berici DOC wines pair well with light starters, soups containing fish or vegetables and fish dishes in sauce but not spicy dishes.
