Red grape variety: Morellino (Sangiovese)
Morellino di Scansano DOCG is made in and around the village of Scansano, in the Maremma area of Tuscany. Like other Tuscan wines, it is mainly made from Sangiovese grapes, however not required to age for long periods of time, therefore making it a “fresh” tasting wine.
It is a dry red wine with aromas of cherry, plum, cedar, leather and pomegranate.
Its spiced notes pair well with Cinghiale (wild boar) which is the signature food of Maremma. It also compliments porchetta, and dried salumi flavored with fennel known as finocchiona (a salami variety typical of Tuscany).
