These south-eastern Italian wines from Puglia are mostly sweet, robust reds but also available in white and rosé.
The sweetness and high level of alcohol of these wines are due to the 300 sunny days per year and high temperatures often reaching 40 degrees in this region.
It is a full-bodied, dry and velvety wine that pairs well with pasta-based first courses (made with ragu sauce), stewed or boiled meats, cheeses and soups.
