Red grape variety: Aglianico
Taurasi and Taurasi Riserva are produced in the Province of Avellino in Campania. They are still red wines made primarily from Aglianico (from the Greek Ellenico) grapes with up to 15% of Barbera, Piedirosso and Sangiovese sometimes blended in. These grapes give plum, dark cherry and raspberry flavours.
These vineyards are at least 1312ft (400m) above sea level, where the best sites are found (Castelfranci, Jampenne, Radici and Torre).
This wine pairs well with barbecued meat or braised game dishes (wild boar or duck) as well as pasta with rich meat ragu.
