With over 58 hectares of organically grown grapes, the vineyard has become a beacon throughout Italy for the success that environmentally conscious viticulture can achieve. This conscious approach to wine making is paired with the Pizzolatto’s family extensive history in wine making, with over 5 generations being involved in viticulture.
Started in 1981 by Settimo Pizzolato with his father Gino, the vineyard was a byproduct of the family’s strong reliance on the land, having previously worked as farmers. This strong synergy with their environment would eventually reflect in the family’s work, helping them lead the way among Italy’s sustainable wine producers. This strong emphasis on retaining an organic perspective towards their business is reflected through their wines, embodying the family’s strong commitment to producing high quality wine in a sustainable manner.
Through adopting and utilizing new processes, both to process the grape and bottling, Cantina Pizzolato has distinguished itself from its competitors. Using green energy, thus allowing for their carbon footprint to be greatly reduced, coupled with the use of micro-irrigation for their vineyards resulted in the vineyard becoming a leading figure among Italian wineries looking to adapt to a more contemporary 21st century approach to wine making as well as business.
More importantly, through Cantina Pizzolato’s work in trying to create a sustainable environment for wine production, vineyards have taken note of both the popularity and acclaim that can come from low emission viticulture.

When was the last time you had dinner in an Italian restaurant in Canada and you thought you were dining in Italy? That’s exactly how “Ospitalità Italiana Certified”restaurants want you to feel when you visit their fine dining establishments.
Ospitalità Italiana is an official certification from Unioncamere, Italy’s federation of local Chambers of Commerce and Industry, that tells you that the food you are enjoying is unquestionably Italian: products are authentic, ingredients genuine and recipes true to the thousand year history of Italian cuisine.
Canada is home to some leading Italian Chefs. Passionate and innovative, many have refined their skills and advanced their knowledge directly in Italy. In addition, Montréal boasts a fabulous cooking school ITHQ where young aspiring chefs learn Italian technic and Italian traditional recipes from the masters.
So the next time you make reservations for an Italian dinner in a Montreal restaurant, ask if they’ve received the Ospitalità Italiana seal of approval. You will enjoy the true Italian taste.
