La Pizzuta del Principe

Established in 1903, with over 100 years of family history, the Ranieri family opened their farm and began producing oil and wine. The company has its headquarters on the property of the Ranieri family, a land that is rich in vineyards and olive groves, among green hills that enjoy mild winters, gentle springs and sunny summers. The property boasts one hundred hectares and is located in an area that has always been suited to the cultivation of vines, neighbouring the Vitravo river, a tributary of the Neto, overlooking the nearby Ionian sea, and under the Mediterranean sun; these are elements that make it possible to obtain grapes suitable to give you wines of excellent quality.

In the early nineties, the first real winery was opened by Albino Bianchi who is the husband of the current owner Mrs. Clara. Dr. Albino oversees each stage of the production process with the help of internationally renowned oenologists with the sole aim of preserving the indigenous vines of this land, a tradition that dates back to the time of ancient Greece, to ensure that each type of wine exhibits the unique flavours and fragrances that can only be replicated in this area. Each and every wine that is produced at La Pizzuta del Principe is made from a longstanding passion for winemaking that has been passed on from generation to generation.

Today the Pizzuta del Principe produces 9 different labels including white, red and rosé. They prefer grape varieties such as Pecorello, Magliocco, Greco Nero, Gaglioppo and Greco Bianco, and among their wines there are also bottles of international vines such as Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Since its creation, the wines of La Pizzuta del Principe have received important national awards for the Molarella, Calastrazza and Jacca Ventu labels which are among the most awarded over the years. In particular, their Jacca Ventu Superiore was awarded as best Gaglioppo and in 2014, the Zingamaro IGT Val di Neto received the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards, one of the most influential wine competitions in the world.
