Since 1891 Aceto Balsamico del Duca has been dedicated to the production and promotion of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena IGP and Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena DOP. A tradition that has been handed down for five generations, closely linked to the territory, which guarantees a unique product. The cooked grape must, carefully selected, and high-quality wine vinegar are aged in historic and precious wooden barrels. The company was founded in 1891, when Adriano Grosoli opens the “Premiata Salumeria”, a specialty food shop, registering its activity at the Chamber of Commerce of Modena.

Ancient acetaia located in a building of 1600, elliptical in shape and with a ceiling with exposed beams, which was a furnace for firing bricks.

Right from the start the company stands out for its quality, recognized already in February 1927 in Genoa, on the occasion of the ExhibitionInternational, during which the “Grand Prix Diploma and Gold Medal is awarded to the company Grosoli Adriano for the special processing of traditional products”.

The turning point came in the 70s, when Adriano, third generation of the family, decides to devote himself exclusively to the production of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena and, together with his wife Luciana, chooses to distinguish the product with the image of the Duke Francesco I d’Este, one of the most famous and passionate producers of Balsamic vinegar much appreciated at the court of the Este family.

In the 80s, the direction and management of the company passed into the hands of his daughter Mariangela and, today, the historic site of Via Medicine 2340 in Spilamberto (Modena) is dedicated to the aging of precious Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena DOP and preserves hundreds of precious barrels.

It is precisely here that they are led to the discovery of black gold Visitors who want to know the secrets of this unique product, entering a fascinating place and suggestive, with barrels still in full activity. In the factory more modern instead, in addition to a functional office building and a shop for direct sales, the imposing oak vats are placed intended for the maturation of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena IGP and different production lines.

In 2016, Aceto del Duca reaches a double goal: in Occasion of its 125th anniversary, in fact, is fully admitted title in the register of the Union of Italian Centenarian Companies.

In 2018 Lucia, daughter of Mariangela and nephew of the now ninety-year-old Adriano, representative of the fifth generation

Finally, in 2021, the company celebrates its 130th anniversary and, on the 2nd of June, Adriano Grosoli is forged of the title of Knight of the Italian Republic by President Mattarella.

The company is located in Spilamberto, in the province of Modena, home Balsamic Vinegar.

There are several food producing companies nearby typical of the territory, such as Parmigiano Reggiano DOP dairies, salami factories, Lambrusco wine cellars. In just 10-15 min. by car from the acetaia you can reach the historic center of Modena, with the UNESCO heritage site.
