Cannoli Siciliani

Cannoli are Italian pastries that originated on the island of Sicily, primarily in the cities of Palermo and Messina, and are today a staple of Sicilian cuisine and known all over the world.

Presentation

Cannoli Siciliani consists of tube-shaped shells of fried pastry dough, filled with a sweet, creamy filling usually containing ricotta. Over time the recipe has evolved, it is now very common to see cannoli with the addition of small pieces of candied fruits, particularly lemon, orange, cherry that will sometimes be mixed into the cream, along with Italian Pistacchios di Bronte DOP and chocolate chips.

The dessert was traditionally made during holidays, especially during Carnival but today it is enjoyed year round.
