The village enjoys a privileged position on the Rhaetian side of the Valtellina Alps and is counted among the most beautiful villages in Italy, offering artistic-cultural testimonies in its main historic Renaissance buildings. However, the village is also the homeland of pizzoccheri and here a cooking class awaits you to learn how to knead them (https://accademiadelpizzocchero.it/videoricetta-in-italiano). A typical lunch will conclude the morning. Today’s experience will end with a visit and tasting in the cellar of award-winning wines such as Rosso di Valtellina and Grumello. Dinner in hotel.

3rd day – Valmalenco – High altitude walk and typical lunch in a mountain hut (80 km total of driving + cable car)

Breakfast and departure with the cable car that leaves from the town for a light half-day excursion with a mountain guide among pastures, among spruce woods and enchanting panoramic views. Along the way there will also be a stop in a hut famous for its tasty Taroz-. Return to Sondrio in the afternoon. Dinner at the hotel and overnight.

4th day – Chiuro – Valtellina Food & Wine (20 km total)

After breakfast, departure for Chiuro, a village perhaps founded by the Ligurians or even earlier, even by the Etruscans and then a city of Roman and Longobard domination and subsequently under the lordship of the Visconti. Full of legends and ghost stories. Chiuro is a maze of alleys and stone houses, resting between terraced vineyards and a splendid panorama. There are numerous cellars of the highest quality. We have chosen one for you that produces the following wines: Sfursat di Valtellina, wine from Sassella, Grumello, the wine from Hell as well as Sfursat, Valtellina Superiore and bubbles. The tasting experience in the historic cellar includes 5 wines accompanied by local products. In the afternoon we advise you to pay a visit to Castel Grumello from the 13th century located in the Municipality of Montagna in Valtellina against the backdrop of the Rhaetian Alps; it consists of a military body and a residential one joined by a stretch of wall, a rare example of a “twin” castle. Dinner in a restaurant in Sondrio which offers typical cuisine interpreted in a modern key with local products of excellence, among which the genuine Valtellina cheeses and cured meats.

5th day – Sondrio and return
