Strucchi are sweets from Friuli Venezia Giulia, which can be fried or cook and have a distinct shape, similar to a small pouch.
Strucchi is specifically from the Valli del Natisone area of northern Italy. The pastry is generally made with wheat flour, sugar, eggs, milk or water, butter, a drop of liqueur, salt, and lemon zest.
The strucchi were traditionally served for important holidays like Christmas and Easter. Each year during the Feast of Saint Anthony, on 17 January, large amounts of strucchi are prepared to offer friends and family.
