Le Rughe

Between tradition and innovation: Le Rughe estate is a story of passion and dedication to growing grapes and making world-class wines.

In the 1960s, Gaetano Sandro, founder of Le Rughe winery, was first struck by the skill of the winegrowers who, on the gentle hills around Conegliano, cultivated the traditional local grape varieties, used to make one of the world’s most prestigious wines.

The Veneto hills are home to the now famous Prosecco Superiore DOCG Conegliano Valdobbiadene. Fascinated by its unmistakable qualities, Gaetano decided to begin making wine, and he laid the foundations of Vinicoltura Le Rughe, set in the green heart of Veneto’s farmlands.

Today Vinicoltura Le Rughe is an estate that has devoted everything to the production of wine, combining traditional artisan know-how with modern production requirements. In a delicate balance between past and present, between tradition and innovation, lies the secret of a wine which is beloved around the world.

There are two estates:
  • Cor: Around the old castle hill, in the center of the estate, seventy hectares of vineyards are partly in organic conversion and partly dedicated to resistant varieties such as Solaris, Aromera and Johannitter. These represent the new frontier of contemporary viticulture.
  • Ogliano: among the hills of the DOCG Prosecco Conegliano Valdobbiadene, these vineyards offer incomparable grapes that, worked by skilled hands, produce one of the most prestigious wines in the world.
