Piera Martellozo

Overview

With a heritage dating back to the late 19th century, Piera Martellozo has become an established fixture among the Veneto’s wine scene.

Situated in the town of Camposampiero, the vineyard has produced a collection of truly noteworthy wines, displaying the best of the region’s traditional production methods while simultaneously advancing the brand into a more contemporary era. Originally founded by Giovanni Martellozzo, the vineyard is now run by Piera Martellozzo, his granddaughter. This change in the company’s structure would see the vineyard attain its current moniker as well as its current renown status on the global wine scene.

Specializing in Prosecco, the vineyard utilizes the region’s Glera grape to produce its award winning Italian sparkling wine. Harvesting the grapes in the second half of September, they are then gently pressed before left to ferment through the traditional Charmat method. This process last for a period of up to three months where the wine is subjected to low temperatures in stainless steel vats where it is able to attain its unique and characteristic flavoring.

Having recently expanded into Friuli Venezia Giulia, Piera Martellozo and their recent purchase of a large scale winery in the town of San Quirino has meant the family run vineyard now has access to a truly diverse portfolio of terroirs from which to expand their bottled inventory. Situated over a base of soil abundant with white pebbles, the vines are provided with protection from the worst of the regions weather. The soil has similarly imbued the grapes with a unique taste which is parleyed into the vineyards D.O.C wines.

While straying from the Piera Martellozo’s history in Prosecco, their new addition in Friuli Venezia Giulia has helped the company expand their expertise to a more diverse repertoire of viniculture.
