DAY 1 – LAMEZIA TERME – BADOLATO
Morning arrival. Transfer to the selected homes of “Albergo Diffuso” in Badolato.
Tour starts right off with a visit and aperitif local vineyard of “Cirimingiano”, small producer of organic wines in the village Badolato.
Later a “Slow Food Convivium”, a briefing on your program. Enjoy a delicious dinner at “Catojo dello Spinetto”, a restaurant in old cell.
DAY 2 – STILO – GUARDAVALLE
Departure by mini van to Guardavalle. Visit the caseificio Pirritano, producer of cheese since 1950.
Watch shepherd make fresh ricotta and taste.
Continue to Agriturismo Villa Vittoria” enjoy prepared by Mamma Vittoria.
Continue to Stilo’s old center, which houses several well preserved Byzantine churches.
Overnight n Badolato.
DAY 3 – WINE EXPERIENCE – PIZZO – TROPEA
Today visit “Cantine Benvenuto” one of the four producers in the association “Winemakers of Angitola”, who recovered the terraces of Pizzo and Francavilla Angitola and brought these fine grapes back life.
In Pizzo, visit Aragonese Castle and seafood lunch at “Ristorante San Domenico”, owned by a famous young chef. Taste the famous Tartufo di Pizzo, a speciality recognized nationally. Delicious dome of hazelnut gelato dusted in cacao resembling a truffle.
Stroll around Tropea, the jewel of the Tyrrhenian coast.
Return to Badolato for dinner of local products at “La Cantinetta”, a local restaurant.
DAY 4 – SERRASTRETTA
We’ll meet a Slow Food Community that saved ancient Calabrian beans. Hike the Reventino Mountains to an old “casella” where people dry chestnuts to produce “pastille”.
Lunch “Il Vecchio Castagno”, excellent osterie Slow Food in 2019. Stop in Soveria Mannelli for a visit an ancient wool mill.
DAY 5 – SCILLA – REGGIO CALABRIA
Scilla, fishing village famous by mythology the home of the monster Scylla.
Tour nearby town of Chianalea with lunch restaurant “Il Glauco”.
Continue to the National Archaeological Museum in Reggio Calabria, home of Bronzi di Riace, world-famous ancient-Greek bronze warriors that were under the sea until 1972.
Visit an award winning gelateria over 100 years old.
Evening in Badolato dinner traditional Calabrian stuffed pizza. Overnight stay.
DAY 6 – BADOLATO – MAMMOLA – GERACE
Mammola visit and lunch Martone at La Collinetta excellent osteria.
Gerace, a beautiful medieval town. Enjoy a special tasting of “cremolata” at the best Gelateria of Calabria of Mr. Rinaldinis.
Return to your accommodation and overnight stay.
DAY 7 – BADOLATO – SAN FLORO
San Floro, village visit “Nido Di Seta silkworm breeding. The silk Museum in XV century castle, beeding, and Mulberry orchard.
Lunch at an organic farm.
Later visit of “Mulinum” the largest supply chain specialized in grains.
Return to Badolato and farewell dinner Calabrian specialties and wine. Overnight.
DAY 8 – BADOLATO – LAMEZIA TERME
After breakfast, it’s time to go back!
Valid all year, except Christmas and Easter:
