Red grape variety: Nebbiolo
Sforzato di Valtellina, also known as Sfusat di Valtellina DOCG, is a wine zone in the province of Sondrio, Lombardia producing passito wines from dried red Nebbiolo grapes.
These Nebbiolo grapes are locally known as Chiavennasca. The ruby-red wines produced here are dry, full-bodied, high in alcohol content and have sweet spice and prune aromas, achieved from the drying process.
They pair well with typical Valtellina product such as Pizzoccheri, Taragna polenta, Bresaola salami and Bitto pasture cheese.
