Located in the beautiful hills of Tuscany’s Chianti Classico DOC wine appellation, Rocca delle Macie winery offers a taste of authentic Tuscan tradition with every glass of their award-winning wines.
Rocca delle Macìe winery was established in 1973, when famed Italian movie producer Italo Zingarelli realized his lifelong dream by acquiring the “Le Macìe” estate and created a winery in the heart of the Chianti Classico DOC, near the picturesque village of Castellina in Chianti in Tuscany.
Love and passion for the Tuscan land are at the heart of Rocca delle Macìe’s philosophy. The winery has now become a family enterprise, with that same passion and love for the Tuscan terroir being handed down from Italo to his children Sergio, Fabio, and Sandra.
The winery now extends to more than 500 hectares, subdivided across the company’s six estates: Le Macìe, Sant’Alfonso, Fizzano e le Tavolelle in the Chianti Classico DOC, in addition to the Campomaccione and Casa Maria estates in the Morellino di Scansano Area in the Maremma DOC appellation.
Rocca delle Macìe offers traditional Tuscan reds from grapes grown in the Chianti Classico DOC as well as a number of Typical Geographical Indication (IGT) “Super Tuscan” wines. Furthermore, wines made from the Maremma DOC allow for a more varied portfolio with the addition of whites and rosés.While their wine portfolio is varied, what remains constant is the respect for the Tuscan tradition and creating superior quality wines, allowing them to become popular worldwide, gaining many prizes and recognitions throughout the years.
The Relais Riserva di Fizzano is a medieval “borgo”, owned by the Rocca delle Macie winery, which rises up on a hilltop in the heart of the Chianti Classico production zone, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves.
The hamlet, which dates from the 11th century, has been equipped with every imaginable comfort to provide guests with highest-quality services and unrivaled privacy in an exceptionally relaxing atmosphere.
Located near the ancient “Via Francigena”, halfway between Siena and Florence and close to San Gimignano and Volterra, the Relais comprises six buildings, which play host to a total of 19 apartments, along with gardens and extensive landscaped areas, a chapel, two swimming pools, a bar, a restaurant and a small retail outlet selling the wines, olive oil and honey made by Rocca delle Macie.
