Visit the Wineries

Librandi Antonio & Nicodemo

Overview

In 1953, the Librandi family began bottling in a small winery in Via Tirone, Cirò Marina using Gaglioppo and Greco Bianco grapes which originate from small plots in the Cirò Doc region. 2 years later, the family purchased their estate in the Ponta area and is currently called Duca Sanfelice located in Eastern Calabria. For four generations, the Librandi family has been committed to the preservation of indigineous vines in the area and they work hard to ensure the excellence of each product they produce. The family began investing in research to improve their wine-making heritage and in 2014, The Gazzetta Ufficiale (the Official Journal of the Italian Republic) announced the registration of the first recorded clones of Calabrian grape varieties in the Italian Register of Grapevine Varieties (Registro Nazionale delle Varietà di Vite) which was a result of their research activities.

In 1998, Concetta and Enza, wives of Antonio and Nicodemo Librandi, former owners of the company, created a space for individuals, both local and international, to share their passion for wine-making and innovative ideas for the industry. The project was made possible with the renovation of a traditional mid-nineteenth century farmhouse which was part of the winery complex, where they host exhibitions, courses and presentations, and essentially becoming a cultural society named “A Casedda”. Today, the family owns 6 estates, 232 hectares of vineyards and 80 hectares of olive groves, all geared towards one goal: quality.

The company offers tours of their wineries and estates which include wine and oil tastings that run all year round. During your time at the Librandi estates, you will have the opportunity to visit their Agricultural Museum, experience the beautiful Calabrian landscape and dine in one of their many farmhouses.
