When the Venice International Film Festival opens its doors, the whole world stops to admire the spectacle of glamour, culture and magic that only the world’s oldest film festival can offer. Since 1932, Venice has become the stage for international stars a place where cinematic masterpieces come to life in the spotlight. But there is another protagonist, a symbol of excellence and tradition, who has accompanied the kermesse’s most exclusive moments for years: Prosecco DOC.
Since 2016, Prosecco DOC has become the sparkling soul of the events organized by the Veneto Region inside the magnificent Hotel Excelsior on the Venice Lido. It is here that, amidst the glitter of evening gowns and the glamour of international stars, Prosecco DOC flows as a symbol of accessible luxury, sophistication, and Italian-ness. Every toast, every goblet raised to the sky before plowing the famous red carpet, is a tribute to the beauty and excellence of the Veneto and Friuli territory.
“Once again this year, 360 bottles of Prosecco DOC will be uncorked in the regional space,” said Luca Zaia, president of the Veneto Region, proudly, ”for a total of 2,500 goblets with which stars, insiders and film delegations will toast, bringing a product of excellence from our territories into the spotlight of the whole world.”
Prosecco DOC represents a celebration of the Italian art of living. With its lively bubbles, it succeeds in transforming every occasion into a special moment, elevating conviviality and luxury within everyone’s reach. In the timeless setting of Venice, during one of the most prestigious events in the world, Prosecco DOC embodies the perfect link between tradition and modernity, representing the mastery and care with which the wine is produced and appreciated.
September in Venice would not be the same without Prosecco DOC. The city’s official bubbly also signs the traditional toast after the Regata Storica, one of the most spectacular, picturesque and enthralling moments of city life, followed especially by the Venetians who gather along the banks of the Grand Canal. The actual regatta is preceded by the procession of historic boats with costumed figures, reenacting the welcome given in 1489 to Caterina Cornaro, the bride of the King of Cyprus, who renounced her throne in favor of Venice.
Prosecco DOC pays tribute to its roots, accompanying with style the moments of maximum splendor, between culture and sports, a toast that tastes of tradition and future, the very essence of Venice.
