Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC

Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC is an appellation located around the municipality of Jesi in the Marche region, between Ancona and Macerata provinces. The word “castelli” means in castle in Italian, which is a reference to the ancient governance system of the municipalities in this area, which dates back to the Middle Ages.

The main grape of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC is Verdicchio (min 85%), a historic grape which first arrived in the Marche region from Veneto in the north. Verdicchio is an early budding grape variety, and takes its name from the Italian word “verde” which means green as it very rarely turns yellow as it matures.

These wines are acidic and have notes of citrus, which pairs well with antipasti, fish dishes and any pasta with a white sauce. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC is also known for its great aging potential and for being the perfect accompaniment to any typical Adriatic fish dish.

The wines of this DOC include:

  1. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi
  2. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Spumante
  3. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Passito
  4. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico
  5. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore.
