Located on territory once belonging to the Tiepolo Countesses of Venice, the Contesse vineyard is one of the most important wineries in the Veneto region for Prosecco wine. The winery incorporates up-to-date technologies, experienced winemakers and a passion for the terroir to create quality sparkling and still wines.
Loris Bonotto has been the owner of Le Contesse winery since it’s opening in 1976 and he, along with his family, have successfully created a brand of high quality wine. Their family has had roots in the Republic of Venice dating back to the early 1300’s and the land was once owned by the Tiepolo Countesses of Venice which is the origin of the company name.
Their land has always been used for the fine art of viticulture and in 1976, Loris and his wife opened up their first winery and planted their very first vineyard using the Bellusara method, an ancient tradition of the Venice alpine area. The company now owns 155 hectares of vineyards in 8 different municipalities (San Polo di Piave / Mareno di Piave / Santa Lucia di Piave / Vazzola / San Pietro di Feletto / Vittorio Veneto / San Vendemiano / Roveredo in Piano) and they export their wine across 38 countries around the world.
Le Contesse winery produces a variety of domestic vines such as Glera, Pinot Nero, Pino Bianco, Moscato, Ribolla, Verduzzo Trevigiano and Manzoni, as well as many international vines such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon to produce a wide selection of unique flavours. As the family traditions are passed on to each generation, they continue to devote their time and resources towards new technological innovations in the winemaking industry.
Grancontessa Firenze
Stay in the heart of historic Florence. Only a 5-minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella Train Station, La Grancontessa is situated in Via Fiume, in the heart of historic Florence. All major architectural marvels of the city – the San Lorenzo church with the famous Medici Chapels, the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi gallery, Ponte Vecchio – are only a short walk away. The Firenze Fiera Exhibition Center is just a 100 m away.
Located just minutes away from La Grancontessa, in the very heart of Florence’s historic center, Santa Maria del Fiore Duomo is probably the city’s most famous symbol and one of the most visited places in the world. The cathedral is Europe’s 4th largest church and home of the Cupola del Brunelleschi with Giorgio Vassari’s frescoes of the Last Judgment on the inside, as well as Giotto’s famous bell tower. You can climb up to the top of the Duomo and admire the stunning views of the city of Florence.
The Uffizi, designed by Giorgio Vasari and built between 1560 and 1580, is one of the most important museums in the world. It holds the world’s greatest collection of Italian Renaissance paintings, including famous works by Michelangelo, Leonardo, Botticelli, Caravaggio and Raphael, to name but a few. The majority of the collection was accumulated over centuries of time by the Medici family and bequeathed to the people of Florence at the end of their dynasty line.
The Academy of Fine Arts, founded in 1563, was created specifically to teach painting, drawing and sculpture. It was the first school of its kind in Europe. Nowadays, you can easily spot L’Accademia from a distance due to the enormously long lines of tourists outside, eager to see Michelangelo’s masterpiece David. Carved in the beginning of the 1500s from a single piece of marble, this colossal statue (5.2 m) is surely one of Michelangelo’s most famous works and established him, at the young age of 29, as the leading sculptor of his time. The nude statue was originally commissioned by the city of Florence for Piazza della Signoria. In 1873, it was replaced by a copy and moved to the Accademia for safekeeping.
Le Contesse is ready to welcome and show you its unique wineyards listed by UNESCO ans it precious winery’s nectar.
